Hundreds Attend Neurogen Biomarking's Free Brain Health Day in Bronzeville Jahmir Young and Sen. Mattie Hunter Urge Taking Charge of Brain Health in Black Communities

CHICAGO, IL — May 10, 2025 — Today, more than 400 community members participated in Capturing Memories: A Free Brain Health Day held at Insight Hospital in Chicago's Bronzeville neighborhood.

The event was hosted by Neurogen Biomarking and co-sponsored by Linus Health and the Global Alzheimer's Platform Foundation to address the urgent need for early Alzheimer's detection, particularly among Black Americans, who are twice as likely as white Americans to develop the disease.

Participants received no-cost access to brain health services valued at over $500, including advanced blood biomarker testing, cognitive assessments, memory screenings, and brain health education from neurology specialists.

"Neurogen Biomarking will be unrelenting in changing the course of this disease globally starting today and we will win," said Dr. Rany Aburashed, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Neurogen Biomarking.

Chicago Bulls guard Jahmir Young and Illinois State Senator Mattie Hunter appeared at the event to raise awareness about brain health and to encourage early action among families. The event was held over Mother's Day weekend to emphasize the importance of caring for aging parents and grandparents.

"As an athlete overall health is my everyday life so I want to stress to the younger generation how important it is to tell their parents, grandparents and relatives to do a brain health check because brain health is huge," said Jahmir Young, Chicago Bulls Guard.

In addition to medical services, attendees received free food, flowers in celebration of Mother's Day, culturally relevant educational materials, and wellness guidance from Alzheimer's care teams.
